6 striking movers mark the first ever Borculo CDI Foal Auction

Having had many excellent dressage foals under the hammer through the years, the Borculo Foal Auction will most certainly live up to its reputation at the first ever edition of the Borculo CDI Foal Auction on Saturday 6 July during the Outdoor Gelderland Dressage Gala. The dressage selection committee consisting of Linda van Doorn and Peter Wetzelaer managed to gather an impressive must-see collection of six striking movers that prove a chip of the old block.

Brother to Ego Tripper Texel

Making our acquaintance with the foals, we first meet O.Neill Texel. This impressive strong mover is a son of the appealing Daily Diamond. Dam V’Alcatrasse Texel (s. Ferro) also produced Inter II horse Ego Tripper Texel. Number two Opicasso (picture above) is without a doubt an exceptional appearance, and not just because of the Ferguson son’s distinctive markings. He shares his dam (s. San Remo) with KWPN stallion Fashion Hill. The only filly joining this collection is Odamora L. This expressive Ghandi x Apache daughter comes from a superb performance line.

Don Schufro’s cast-iron dam line

We then encounter the exceptional mover Oirendo. This eye-catcher from Grand Prix talent Glock’s Toto Jr.’s offspring has an interestingly bred Tuschinski dam. The expressive Ovation (out of a Quantensprung dam) is from the first batch of foals by Imposantos, himself a former Borculo foal. Last but not least there is Onyx Dór. This direct son of the preferent Painted Black is sensationally bred and comes from the cast-iron dam line behind Don Schufro. A video compilation of the six selected foals can be found below.

Another novelty: live online bidding

Appropriately themed “Like father, like son, like mother, like daughter”, the Dressage Gala is adorned by the presence of some of the foals’ sires. Imposantos, Ferguson and Ghandi have been confirmed already and Anky van Grunsven will pay tribute to Painted Black in a clinic. When attending the auction people can also visit our booth to gather information about the CDI foals and about foals that are already selected for the Borculo Elite Foal Auction, on 28 and 29 August.

Apart from the Borculo CDI Foal Auction’s premiere, Saturday 6 July holds yet another novelty. It is now possible to bid on the foals online after registering. More info can be found on our website.
