On Friday, August 16 the KWPN Championships traditionally came to a climax when the winners of the national inspection championships and Pavo Cup for young dressage horses were announced. It turned out to be a very memorable day for Foal Auction Borculo.
Starting with the most important inspection class: the national championship for three-year-old mares. The 2019 national title was won by Lolana (Galaxie x Vivaldi), who has been auctioned in the past at the Borculo Elite Foal Auction. The breeding product of Appie Dijkstra already clinched the title at the province of Zuid-Holland and the great mare owned by Leen van de Graaf and Yvonne van Vliet even found an extra gear in Ermelo and convincingly trotted towards the prestigious title. Extra special is that Lolana is by Galaxie. This KWPN approved stallion, who performs at international Small Tour level, has also previously been auctioned at Borculo.
The victory of Lolana fits within a beautiful Borculo tradition. Earlier this century the prestigious title at the National Mare Inspection was won by former Borculo foals Unicum H, Zhara-Obertje and D.Obertje.
The beautiful Lorabel (Glock’s Toto Jr. x Don Schufro, breeder Willem Goesten) put the icing on the cake. This former Borculo foal finished fourth among ten other finalists in the three-year-olds championship and had already won the title at the province of Noord-Brabant.
Successes at National Foal Inspection
The 2019 KWPN foal champion also had a clear Borculo link as this Oristo is a colt by strong breeder High Five U.S. (v. Charmeur), whose career started seven years ago as a Borculo foal. Almost traditionally foals from the Elite Foal Auction collection are present in the final, as was also the case this time at the National Foal Inspection. Among the ten finalist were the uphill moving Outlaw (picture above, Daily Diamond x Florencio, breeder K. Reitsma) and the impressive Okwa (picture below, Ghandi x Santano, breeder S. Dortmans).
Imposantos repeats Pavo Cup victory
Almost no important young horse competition passes by or Imposantos (Wynton x Krack C) belongs to the winners with Bart Veeze. The same story in Ermelo. A fantastic Imposantos, auctioned at the Borculo Elite Foal Auction in 2013, repeated his Pavo Cup win from last year. He received a 10 from guest rider Philipp Hess and took the six-year-olds class in great style. His breeder Willy Wijnen was also honoured as KWPN Dressage Breeder of the Year.
Among the 4-year-olds there was success for Kyton Platinum (Ferguson x Ferro, breeder W. Goesten). The KWPN approved stallion, auctioned at Borculo finished ninth in the Pavo Cup.
Striking foal collection under the hammer
Various other young KWPN stallions who showed themselves strikingly during the Pavo Cup will be represented by their offspring in the current dressage foal collection. In Style (4th 6yo) produced the colt Incredible K (ds. Samarant), Just Wimphof (5th 5yo) brings in the filly Organza Catrasse Texel (ds. Jazz) and For Ferrero (6th 5yo) the colts Outlook (ds. Gribaldi) and Ohio (ds. Jazz).
On Thursday 29 August this striking collection will come under auctioneer Frederik De Backer’s hammer during the 40th anniversary of the Borculo Elite Foal Auction at PSC Lichtenvoorde in Vragender. For the first time buyers can – after registering on our website – also bid online during this auction.
